The large patch is capped with galvanized sheet metal to keep rain out. The capped area also nicely shows the extend of where the top chord has been cut. To the left of it the top chord is untouched. This will be the biggest repair involving jacking the car up, putting back the camber in the side sill (still intact) and reconstructing the original side wall.
