With the removed window assembly seen on the left the window opening shows its collection of dirt, rust and insulation. A glasswool was apparently used to fill all the areas around the windows for added insulation. It is however also a sponge collecting water that leaks around the window gaskets creating a perfect environment for rust. I decided to take the insulation out and not to replace it for this reason.
